“Attendance is always a priority for schools, but even more so now.”
CIS of Chicago’s Senior Director of Intensive Student Supports, Shipra Panicker, and our Senior Director of Partnerships, Robin Koelsch, chatted with Chalkbeat recently about the work our organization is doing to boost student attendance.
During the last school year, attendance in the district lagged as students and families returned to in-person learning, and many were still challenged by the effects of the pandemic. This school year, “cautious optimism is the overarching theme,” Robin said.
Our team is connecting students with enrichment opportunities like field trips and creating opportunities for students to feel seen and valued — both of which helps build student engagement.
