Rylei and Beautiful, both students at CIS of Chicago partner schools, were selected as Chicago’s 2024-2025 Student Ambassadors for the Do The Write Thing Challenge. They received this honor because they both wrote powerful essays that offered their personal reflections on the impact of violence on communities. The students will travel to Washington D.C. in July to meet up with ambassadors from other cities across the nation. In D.C. they will share their insights into violence reduction and peace-making strategies with lawmakers and civic leaders, serving as catalysts for positive change.
We were thrilled that Anita Blanton of Fox 32 invited Beautiful and Rylei, along with CIS of Chicago’s Chief Partnership Engagement Officer Robin Koelsch, to the studio to talk about Do The Write Thing in Chicago. Both students had the opportunity to read their essays and share their insights on violence reduction with a much broader audience.
